Portfolio of Works
Fresh off the Easel:
This is the place for my most recent work, fresh off the easel.
All paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.
Livestock & Western Paintings
With large rivers and expanses of rich grassland, this region has long been home to ranches. Growing up a cowgirl, I relate to this culture and feel a need to portray aspects of that lifestyle in my work, whether it's livestock or an old truck, fence, haystack, meadow or barn. We all should paint what they know, and I'm grateful for all the visual memories and appreciation for rural lifestyle that growing up a cowgirl brought me.
Paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.
Plein Air & Landscape Paintings
I'm blessed to live at the base of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains in northern Wyoming. I'm continually inspired by the rural landscape, which is changing quickly as pastures are turned into subdivisions and houses sprout up in hay fields. I want to paint these places while they remain, and to create a visual record of the beauty that surrounds us here at this time in history.
I thank the Lord to be only minutes away from such diverse beauty and subject matter. Paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.
Whimsical Wanderings
You'll see by now that I hate to get bogged down with the same subject matter, so if the last painting was especially strenuous, or if I have unused paint on my palette (I'm very thrifty), I paint these fun scenes to relax. These playful paintings teach me a lot that I wouldn't learn if I hadn't stepped "outside the box" of my usual work. The fun of simply painting spontaneously without a plan for the finished product is something I try to instill in beginning painters in the 2-hour workshops I teach. (Paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.)
Sign of the Times Paintings
Some of my favorite subjects are becoming forgotten elements of our western landscape as time takes its toll. Huge, leaning skeletons of weathered barns fall and are replaced with steel pole barns. Farm machinery harkens to days when farm work didn't mean air-conditioned cabs with music.
Capturing these structures, vehicles, and signs in paint helps me express my appreciation for the history of our region.
Paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.
On Sale: Gifts / Collection Starters
Here's a great place to begin collecting, purchase gifts, or enhance your current collection w/ affordable pieces. Some of these paintings don't fit into other categories. Many are quick studies. Some are older pieces I dearly love, but I've reduced their sale prices to help them find homes. Unframed unless noted.
Several have hung in multiple galleries. If you purchase a painting you've seen previously in a gallery, let me know which gallery and when you saw it there, and I'll send them a small thank you check for sharing my work with you.
Select Commissioned Works
Here are a few commissioned works from the last few years.
Select Archived Works
These paintings are not current, but represent stages in my learning, development and growth as an artist.
Wildlife Paintings
Living at the base of the Big Horn Mountains furnishes ample wildlife viewing: deer, elk, moose, antelope, and the occasional mountain lion, bobcat or bear, and smaller "critters" like raccoons, coyotes, foxes and badgers, as well as cranes, eagles, ravens, heron, osprey and magpies.
I love it when I have a camera with me and can take a photo of these animals to paint later. (Paintings are unframed unless specified in the description.)
